Ranting About Cell Phone Contracts

Cell Phones

For many months now, I have been upset with my cell service (Sprint). Now the interesting thing about this is I have been with them for 10 years and have always had great service.

Back in September I changed my plan to accommodate the growing needs of our family. I have a teenage who texts more than talks on the phone, a husband who checks his email on his phone, uses Google Maps to find where to go while we are out and about, and uses his phone’s minutes for business more often than personal, and little old me who has began texting quite often as well! We spend a good amount of money on our cell service each month! When I changed the contract I had to sign a new two year contract.

In November, I was charged $1234.22 because Sprint failed to apply the changes of the new plan to the account (I have automatic payment). After about 3 hours and several different calls, we were able to get the bill to the right amount (roughly $200.00) but they could not reverse the charges. This was not a great solution but it worked out where we didn’t pay a bill for quite some time.

Now back in March, while my husband was making a whirl wind trip to NYC (24 hours from take off to touch down) Sprint decided they no longer had the billing information and placed our account on hold for payment. Funny how they could find my billing information right away when they wanted that $1234.22. So my husband called and gave them the billing info (which they already had)!

Now in the middle of all this they could also call to tell me that my son was eligible to update his phone! However, can’t call to tell me they don’t have my billing info or that they are about to put my service on hold. Where did the customer service go?

I never really thought about the service contract because we had not had any problems or needed to change companies. So here is what I have decided ~~ If cell phone companies were confident in their services then they would not make their customers sign a contract!

I think with the 10 years I have already completed my sentence (it is feeling like that right now)!
